ANYSECU AC-580 REVIEW
I bought this radio to support a company bringing overdue technologies to the handheld radio market. In particular, the ability to charge via USB cable and to configure via BT with a mobile app. Unfortunately, the app is terrible. Furthermore, some critical configuration can only be done via the phone, and others can only be done via the app. In addition, what can you configure on each change between the two modes (frequency/channel.) The good news is that this could be fixed in future firmware and app updates. I hope the manufacturer is listening.

Excellent Rugged Radio
This rugged little radio is perhaps the best handheld for totally off-grid short range comms. It charges relatively quickly off a power bank or solar panel and a charge lasts multiple days of light use. The built-in scanner feature makes it easy to lock in on local transmissions. The FM radio receiver is great for getting news or music. Transmissions come in loud and clear through the speaker. This thing has survived a lot of splashing and dust and even a 100 foot fall down a cliff while rock climbing (only the pocket clip was damaged). The screen brightness leaves something to be desired in bright sun and the S-meter seems a little bit of a gimmick because it almost always reports signal strength 5 even when poor. The flashlight is nice and bright and unobstructed by the antenna because of its bottom placement but I wish there was a way to turn it on solid red mode and do it without activating the white light. I wish you stocked replacement batteries as well for extended use. I wish NOAA weather channels were pre-programmed on a seperate channel bank from the main ones, but for fast access I have saved them to channels 101, 102, and so on, to free up channels 1, 2, etc. Improvements could be made to the programming software. I find it simplest work off of the front panel but it doesn't allow to program certain parameters, whereas both the app and computer software have other missing features...

Any sect 8800 is a great radio
Love the Bluetooth programming. Keyboard programming also works well. Usb charging is a great feature too.
