This is a very underrated and good QRP Radio. Is it a perfect radio, no, there are no perfect radios no matter how much you spend. Does it have some issues, Yup, but none you can’t work around. This is meant to be a portable radio and works very well in that environment. I got involved in POTA last year and already own a FT-817 which is also a great radio, but the X6100 has become my go to POTA radio. I activate SSB into a Wolf River Coils 17.5ft vertical with Sporty Forty 40M add on coil, either into a mag mount on the truck roof, or WRC tripod on window screen known as the magic carpet. I have done over 75 POTA activation's with this radio. I only run 5 watts and find the radio runs much cooler. I did build a stand with a fan that I can turn on if required on a hot day if needed. I talk regularly to stations all over North America and into Europe and North Africa on 5 watts. I have always got great audio and signal reports. I have operated within 3 miles of an AM broadcast station and not had a problem. Are there birdies, yup a few, but suck it up and tune around them. The recent firmware updates have greatly improved this radio. Buy from a reputable dealer like DX Canada where I bought mine. I love the display and use either headphones or a small speaker. I use a 6 Amp hour LiPo battery even though I only run 5 watts that will power the radio and fan when required all day. I have hunted CW and the radio is fine, When you are out in the Parks you are away from a lot of noise and if you are looking for a low powered very compact radio this is a good one. I have a lot of fun with this radio and since it is SDR, I look forward to Firmware Updates.

This radio does have an awesome screen and even works with third party software. Still waiting for FM repeater mode. Work's well on all bands.

Great radio. Very good reception. ATU is excellent. Battery performance is good. Firmware upgrade is easy to perform. Very satisfied with this QRP SDR transceiver.

Bought my X6100 from DX Canada in Nov of 2022 and haven't looked back. I have been using (and loving) my original IC-706 since I got it new in the mid 90's. Having slowly developed a taste for QRP, but wanting a lighter go kit I was looking at the IC-705. However the lack of an internal tuner was a stumbling block. This past weekend (Winter field day) I worked QRP, easily tuning to a long wire antenna and was able to run nearly 6000km on 10 watts on 10m and 20m SSB. It simply IS the backpackers rig. Add to that the semi open nature of this radios code, and I think we will see many more "options" for this platform. 73s de VE3JKB

Newly registered HAM, so take this review worth a grain of salt. =================== Wanted an SDR/QRP Rig (I'm a huge fan of data visualization), this seemed like a good place to start. Evaluated other options, but this one was "budget friendly", considering what HF bands you get access to (all). I'm still working on getting better antennas to do testing with for 80&160m; rest of the bands work great, 40,20,10,6. Paying homage to Paul from OM0ET YouTube channel that helped the make deciding the factor.

So many features, this is a powerful little QRP rig. Very solid build. Found the Bluetooth feature not working as yet. Still experimenting with the radio. Club picnic, I set up using a ham stick on 40 meters, antenna placed on the grass…..3contacts dab, Wisconsin, Vermont and New York State! 5/9/9. We were 5 watts on internal battery. Again, a great rig and worth the price!

So far, I have been enjoying the x6100. Its a good size for portable operations, reasonable battery life, easy to use, and the screen is very easy to look at. In full day light, some of the red is hard to see, but easy to work around. -1 star for some firmware related issues, some functionality not working (Wifi and bluetooth) but not a deal breaker. As the fixes come, it will improve the value of the radio. I have had luck with SSB/FT8/JS8Call contacts using an EFLW. As usual, I am impressed with DXcanada as a vendor. I am looking at the jp7 as a portable antenna to go with my EFLW. 73 Don VA3DRK
